Individual Therapy - Adults (18+)

I'm experienced in working with a multitude of issues and concerns including addictions, anger, anxiety, depression, grief and loss, OCD, personal growth and development, self-esteem and self-confidence issues, and stress management. I utilize a variety of tools and approaches to help you achieve your goals.

Trauma & Abuse

I am highly experienced in providing trauma-focused treatment to resolve and heal a variety of traumatic experiences including sexual, attachment, chronic, childhood, and/or singular incidents. I believe in building on the strength and courage that each individual possesses. I am able to diagnose and treat PTSD, and am specifically trained in trauma-focused approaches such as Prolonged Exposure and EMDR.

Military, Veterans, Paramedics, Firefighters

I have special interest and training in working with those who devote their lives to helping others and their family members. I have knowledge of and appreciation for the unique cultural differences of these populations, including the difficulties many face when reintegrating back into civilian life and/or the increased risk of trauma and PTSD.

Self-Harm

I work collaboratively with individuals who engage in self-harming behaviour to help them develop alternative tools to manage their emotions. I strive to create a space where we can explore the underlying issues and unmet needs that may drive urges to self-injure.

2SLGBTQIA+

I welcome all people in my practice regardless of sexual or gender orientation, and am familiar with the struggles people in the LGBTQ2SA+ community often encounter. While I never assume that the reason for seeking counselling is related to these issues, I will always offer a safe, informed, and non-judgmental space in which to learn new strategies to cope with life's challenges.

Emotional Dysregulation

I have experience in working with individuals who struggle with emotional dysregulation, including those diagnosed with borderline personality disorder. I use a variety of modalities and practical skill-building strategies to assist in the management of emotional distress, reduction of emotional intensity, and improvement of interpersonal relationships. I draw from CBT, DBT, and interpersonal skills to treat emotional dysregulation.

Fertility Issues and Struggles

I can provide an informed, safe space to explore the emotional and psychological impact that fertility difficulties can cause, including frustration, helplessness, depression, anxiety, guilt, and/or a sense of worthlessness.

Pre-Marital Couples Counselling

Research shows that couples come to therapy about six years after they start to experience serious issues in their relationship. I offer couples counselling for those about to embark on the journey of marriage, or for those who want to enhance their current relationship. I am passionate about enhancing healthy and respectful relationships and am committed to helping partners develop healthy communication and conflict resolution tools, while maintaining a deep connection with each other. I am a Level 1 and 2 Gottman-trained couples therapist and welcome all forms and expressions of relationships.

Secure Online Video

For those with reduced mobility, limited access to transportation, and/or who live in rural areas, I am able to provide therapy via secure, online video to promote equal access to care for all Albertans.

Direct-Billing

I offer direct-billing for most insurance companies including: Alberta Blue Cross, Co-Operators, Great-West Life, GreenShield, Medavie Blue Cross, and Veterans Affairs. Please contact me for more information.

COVID-19
Relaunch information

On May 14th, 2020 – Alberta’s Chief Medical Officer announced the start of Stage 1.

As part of the Stage 1 Re-opening, beginning May 18th, 2020, I will resume providing in-person services to those who are healthy, who have not been exposed to anyone else with COVID-19 symptoms, and who have not travelled outside of the country in the 14 days preceding their appointment.

NOTE: SecureVideo sessions are still the safest method of providing therapy and will remain available to any client who would prefer to continue online sessions even after the office has re-opened.

If you would like to attend in-person sessions, please contact me.

The following precautions will be implemented upon reopening of the office:

  • High-contact surfaces will be disinfected after each in-person client (such as doorknobs, chairs, couches, tables, coffee supplies, credit machines).

  • Seating in the waiting area and in all individual therapy offices has been rearranged to adhere to physical distancing requirements.

  • You may request that I wear a face mask during our session.

  • A brief screening assessment will be conducted with each client upon arrival, including a contactless temperature reading. I will complete this screening procedure for myself at the start of each day as well.

Please observe the following safety precautions upon arrival to your session:

  • Please do not arrive more than five minutes before your scheduled appointment time. You may also opt to wait outside the building or in your car and receive a text to come in when the office is completely re-sanitized.

  • Wash your hands and/or use hand sanitizer immediately upon arrival to your appointment.

  • Review screening criteria in the confirmation email the day of your appointment and inform me immediately of any concerns.

  • Cover all coughs and sneezes.

  • Avoid touching your eyes, nose, and mouth with unwashed hands and re-sanitize immediately if you do touch your face.

  • Stay at home and away from others and request an online session instead if you feel ill or have any symptoms associated with COVID-19.
